Somewhere In Ohio

Somewhere in Ohio is a portrait of the Juggalo-community at the annual Gathering of the Juggaos in Legend Valley, Ohio, USA. The short brings an intimate insight into the life of juggalos and the prejudice they live with. In 2011, the American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) classified Juggalos as “a loosely organized hybrid gang”. According to Juggalos, some have lost their children in custody battles, been denied admittance for military service and lost jobs for merely being classified a ‘Juggalo’. Despite the gang-label, the Gathering grows in numbers each year. It seems that the joy of being a part of the group outweighs the fear of labels and even criminal repercussions. The chance to be with your ‘gang’, is a chance to belong.
